The Codes of Conduct and Thought
The Codes of Conduct and Thought establish the behavioral and cognitive standards expected of members of the Black Enlightenment. They govern judgment, decision-making, and action.
Refusal to Harm Other Black Americans
Do not direct violence, exploitation, or degradation toward other Black people.
Apply Long-Term Thinking
Make decisions based on generational impact, not short-term benefit, emotion, or perceived status.
Commit to Economic Discipline
Direct money, time, and assets intentionally to build personal stability and collective empowerment.
Support Youth Education
Actively contribute — through time, resources, attention, or financial support — to the educational development of Black children.
Practice Strategic Civic Engagement
Participate in civic and political processes in ways that build long-term structural power
Guard the Mind and Protect Black Cultural Dignity
Be intentional about what you consume, promote, and normalize — reject narratives and behaviors that degrade, promote confusion, inferiority, or internal division.
Every member of the Black Enlightenment accepts a responsibility beyond themselves: to build, contribute, or create something — according to their ability — that strengthens at least one of the four domains essential to the advancement of Black America.
Education & Intellectual Sovereignty
Building the capacity to educate ourselves and future generations to produce independent thinkers shaped by disciplined learning, critical analysis, and the pursuit of truth.
Economic Empowerment & Financial Independence
Strengthening personal and collective economic power through disciplined saving, investing, entrepreneurship, and strategic cooperation.
Political Alignment & Structural Power
Participating in civic processes in ways that build long-term influence and structural power.
Cultural Sovereignty & Psychological Liberation
Cultivating values, norms, and cultural practices that reinforce dignity, responsibility, unity, and community strength.
The Decision Standard
In every decision I make, I will hold the objectives of the Black Enlightenment before me. I will measure my actions through its code of conduct and thought. I will ask myself a simple but powerful question:
Does this action move us closer to the four goals of the Black Enlightenment, or does it undermine our work to achieve them?
If it advances our mission, I will support it.
If it weakens our progress, I will reject it.
THE BLACK ENLIGHTENMENT — DAILY PLEDGE
Today I commit myself to the mission of the Black Enlightenment.
I recognize that the future of Black America must not be shaped by others, but by the choices we make each day.
I commit to the empowerment, advancement, and prosperity of Black Americans through education, economics, political alignment, and positive cultural values.
Before this day ends, I will take some action—large or small—that moves our people forward.
I will not wait.
I will not wish.
I will build.
